Bangladesh has sent a letter to India concerning the meeting between Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the BIMSTEC summit. However, according to Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain, Dhaka has yet to receive a response from Delhi, even after four days.
He shared this information with journalists at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday (March 23).
When asked if any response had been received from Delhi, he replied, “No, we haven’t received a response yet. We’ve only informed them.”
Regarding Bangladesh’s potential participation in China’s Global Development Initiative (GDI) during the Chief Adviser’s upcoming visit to China, the Advisor said, “I’m not sure. A final decision hasn’t been made. We have no objections to joining GDI, but whether we will be part of it is still uncertain.”
On the same day, ahead of the Chief Adviser’s visit to China, the Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh, Yao Wen, met with Foreign Secretary Md. Jasim Uddin at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
After the meeting, Yao Wen told the media, “This year marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. We anticipate this visit will be fruitful and constructive.”
Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus is set to visit China for three days, beginning on March 26.
